When you tell someone, `spit it out’, what you want the person to do is talk. You want the person to tell you what is on his mind. It’s another way of saying, `tell me’ or `say it’. The expression is mostly used in informal contexts.
Examples: “What’s your problem? Don’t just stand there looking angry. Spit it out.” * ”Come on Satish, you don’t need to be shy. Spit it out.” * ” Why is it that you don’t want to marry me? Tell me the truth. Spit it out.”
