When you `play into someone’s hands’ you do what the person has planned for you to do. In other words, you react the way he expects you to.
Example: ”By sneaking the information to her colleagues, Maya played right into the principal’s hands.” * “By playing defensive on the last day of the test match, India played into the opposition’s hands.”
